Older people are very concerned that vast sections of the NHS have already been taken over by private companies. We are old enough to remember what it was like to be ill and worry about finding money to call and pay the doctor before the NHS was created.
We have the best health service in the world, but if profit comes first then the quality of service will decline and only the rich will have access to excellent health care.
The Secretary of State for Health talks down the NHS, his latest salvo has been to ignore the evidence of the Independent NHS Pay Review Body. The Dept of Health is returning a £2 billion underspend to the Treasury. The wasteful reorganisation is estimated to have cost between £1.6 billion and £3 billion.
We must work together to defend our NHS and make sure we continue to have the best health service for future generations. Join the Nottingham Pensioners Action Group for the rally.
