People's Assembly planning meeting

Our next meeting is open to all and we discuss anti-austerity campaigning in Nottingham. We've temporarily decamped to the Orange Tree pub across the road from our usual venue. On the agenda will be:

Our fund raising play, WE WILL Be Free
The People's Assembly national conference
Student Assembly event against student loan sell off
Women's Assembly Against Austerity
Anything of relevance to anti-cuts activists in Nottingham

Our meetings last about 1 hour 15 minutes and new people are made to feel very welcome.

The People's Assembly Against Austerity launched in June 2013 with a conference in London of over 4,000 people. Since that event, local People's Assembly groups have sprung up across the country. The People's Assembly has a plain and simple goal: to make the government abandon its austerity programme. If it will not it we must replace it with one that will. With George Osborne declaring a further ¬£25 billion in cuts and after David Cameron's speech announcing that austerity must be permanent, it has never been more necessary for a national unified response which can articulate and campaign for an alternative that is unheard in the mainstream. The People's Assembly will be holding its first delegate conference on 15 March 2014. People from every part of the country representing trade unions, campaign groups, community groups and organisations that want to work towards our aim will be meeting to decide on the next steps and action plan for the movement in 2014. We would like to formally invite Notts People's Assembly to send delegates to this important event. People's Assembly Delegate Conference Date: 15 March 2014 Time: 10am - 5pm Venue: Emmanuel Centre, Marsham Street , London, SW1P 3DW Deadline to submit motions: Saturday 22 February 2014 Here is a model resolution and the conference pack with more information about motions, delegation entitlement, access, travel and much more which can also be found on our website here. We'd like to thank DPAC, the WOW petition and the Inclusion Campaign for assisting with ensuring the venue is accessible as possible. We will add a comprehensive advice and adjustments plan to the Conference Pack. Please let us know of any specific access needs so adjustments can be made. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact the People's Assembly national office: [email protected] / 020 8525 6988
