The 999 Jarrow to London march for our NHS has just been announced and has had a blitz of publicity locally and regionally. Hundreds of marchers are expected to leave Jarrow, following the route of the famous unemployed workers in 1936, to march through towns and cities the length of England arriving at Parliament.
The Nottingham Post reports that hundreds of mums are expected to march through Notts with them and the People's Assembly will support them throughout their protest.
Their march is to raise awareness of, and opposition to, the private take over of our health service. Organiser Joanna Adams said 'We the ordinary people who the NHS takes care of, who can't afford the private healthcare...we are the people and we are going to march'.
the march will come through Mansfield and Nottingham and we will have more precise dates soon. See the 999 March for our NHS website for the most up to date info. If you'd like to get involved with the march when it goes through Notts get along to the next People's Assembly Organising meeting on Monday May 12th.
Register your support the march at the 999 website. You can march for as long as you like, from 1 mile to the whole route! All participants are very welcome. Register here.
