Demonstration: Fight the cuts, fight for our future

On 22nd August 1642, King Charles I raised his standard in Nottingham, so beginning the civil war.

But there's nothing civil about the war that Tories are waging against the poor, the vulnerable, the old and the young. Even the animals aren't safe.

On the 30 May 2015 in the place now called Standard Hill, we are going to raise our standard and declare our willingness to fight back.

We will then march peacefully through the city in a demonstration of strength and solidarity. But this won't be an ordinary A-B march where everybody goes home at the end wondering what to do next. We'll finish our march at Victoria park, where instead of having speakers we'll instigate The Great Solidarity Picnic.

Bring cakes, bring food, but most of all bring yourselves, the groups you are fighting in and the people you are fighting for. Let's link up the pieces and create a bottom up solidarity network that can resist the Tory onslaught.

This is no longer a Notts Uncut event. It's far to big for that and too much is at stake. This is a solidarity demo for all of the people of Nottingham. We know there are national call outs for other groups, the space is there for everybody to join us as partners or even do their own thing.

We'll be raising our banner on Standard Hill, we invite you to do the same.

This is to be a fun, peaceful, non-threatening, family safe event, please help to keep it that way.
