Make Some Noise Against Poverty!

Noise_Spring_FB_Masthead.jpgThis Winter, even more families in Nottingham will struggle to fill the pot – let alone heat it. Our empty pots and pans will sound out in protest against austerity, falling incomes and rising costs!

Join us on the last Saturday of every month, bring your pots and pans to bang, and wear red to show you stand with us against poverty!

Why are we protesting?

As the rich get richer, most of us are finding it harder to put food on the table and pay our bills.

Some of us are having to resort to food banks. If you think it is wrong that people will go without food in the sixth richest country on earth, join us to build a protest that says loud and clear that food and fuel poverty are unacceptable in 2015.

Whilst hundreds of thousands of families – even working families – are forced to use foodbanks, bankers’ bonuses still rocket. Half of people living in poverty are in working households, and the average worker is £40 per week worse off in real terms since the crisis began. Our welfare safety net is in tatters, whilst the richest benefit from tax cuts and offshore their profits.

Meanwhile, food prices have risen steeply, to make food poverty a widespread problem for the first time in decades.

They keep telling us that austerity is working – but we will send a noisy reply that it isn’t working for us!
