Next year, millions of families stand to lose thousands of pounds if the government
cuts tax credits for working people. The ‘work penalty’ will see 3 million people
lose an average of £1,000 a year according to the institute of Fiscal Studies.
Before the election David Cameron promised not to cut tax credits. Now he is back
tracking. Even his own party are beginning to see how this cut will hurt people.
Let’s not forget why we are in this situation. A banking crisis in 2008 which crashed
the world economy has left a debt that working people are forced to pay. Austerity,
the policy of cuts followed by the Tories, is their response to the banking crisis.
They want us to pay for the crash.
This protest takes place 4 days before the Chancellor’s Autumn Statement. We
want to show the scale of opposition to this cut. Get along to this protest and invite
your friends and family! Let’s make it huge!
